What is the difference between a Type 1aA and 1aB diamond?

Both are classified as Type 1A, which appears in our Diamond Grading Lexicon. The only difference between the two types is the lattice structure of the diamond’s crystal. More importantly, 98% of all diamonds are Type 1aA or 1aB, signifying that they cannot be treated by the HPHT (High-Pressure High-Treatment) process.
